The Bluesound Powernode is a streaming amplifier that combines a network streamer, DAC, and power amplifier into a single compact chassis
Combining the Bluesound Powernode with Ostom IC640T in ceiling speakers delivers a premium, minimalist single zone background music system. By integrating a high-resolution streamer and an amplifier into a single compact chassis, this setup removes the need for bulky equipment racks while a few taps on an iPad offer high-fidelity audio control through the BluOS app.
The standard Bluesound Powernode delivers 80 watts per channel, providing plenty of clean headroom to drive architectural speakers smoothly without distortion.
Because the Powernode is a traditional low-impedance hi-fi amplifier, you must set the physical rotary switch on the Ostom IC640T speakers strictly to the 8Ω (8-ohm) position. Do not use the 70V/100V transformer taps, as they are not compatible with this amplifier.

Here is how you will wire and configure your five Bluesound Powernodes to safely run all of your Ostom IC640T speakers:
Zone 1: Living Hall & Dining (1x Powernode + 4 Speakers)
You will place two speakers in the Living Hall and two speakers in the Dining area. To wire this, connect two speakers in parallel to the Left channel terminal and two speakers in parallel to the Right channel terminal. This creates a 4-ohm electrical load per channel. The Powernode handles this heavy current load comfortably, delivering roughly 130W of total output to provide perfectly even, rich acoustic coverage across your main open-plan entertaining space.
Zone 2: Kitchen (1x Powernode + 2 Speakers)
You will place two speakers overhead in your cooking and prep space. Wire one speaker directly to the Left channel and one speaker directly to the Right channel. This configuration runs at a standard 8-ohm load, allowing the Powernode's 80W output to deliver dynamic, high-fidelity sound that easily cuts through ambient kitchen noise like sizzling pans or running water.

Zone 4: SOHO / Home Office (1x Powernode + 2 Speakers)
You will mount two speakers in your workspace, wired in standard stereo (one Left, one Right) at an 8-ohm load. Zone 5: Smaller Room 1 (1x Powernode + 1 or 2 Speakers)
This bedroom gets its own dedicated Powernode. If you are installing one speaker, wire it directly to the Left channel terminal. Because this is a single speaker running on a stereo amplifier, you can go into the BluOS App settings for this specific room and switch the audio output from "Stereo" to "Mono." This ensures the speaker combines both audio channels so you don't miss any left-or-right sound details. If you prefer a full stereo field, you can install two speakers wired normally (one Left, one Right) at an 8-ohm load.
Zone 6: Smaller Room 2 (1x Powernode + 1 or 2 Speakers)
Just like Room 1, this space is powered by its own discrete Powernode. Wiring a single speaker to the Left channel and toggling the Mono mode setting in the app gives the occupant complete autonomy.
